Located in an exceptional panoramic position in Montalcino, province of Siena, nestled among the hills
of this verdant territory, a region of vineyards, oaks, holm oaks and thick bushes, Castel Verdelli lies along a scenic road giving enchanting views of the valleys and the characteristic
landscapes of this land. The road leading to it is named after the Castle and is flanked by two thick rows of old cypress trees.
The massive brick structure that dates back to the XIV century appears to be made up of
two separate blocks with a sloping base and other buildings that developed around a central courtyard in which there is an ancient circular well.
Close to the historic structure rises a charming family chapel made up of an octagonal plan, dating back to
the sixteenth century, part of the whole complex.
The total area of the structure is 3900 sqm which are developed along three levels in
addition to the cellars. The surrounding land is 10000 sqm suitable for realize a swimming pool, with a further
7ihectares on the north
side which enjoy excellent exposure; a very generous land rich in organic and nutrient substances, excellent for wine-growing crops as agronomy technical report already done,
suitable for the thriving and renowned tuscan farm productions. There are additional
hectares of adjacent land to be annexed to the property.
Castel Verdelli was acquired by the De Vecchi family after the sisters Margherita and Giulia Verdelli
hereditary divisions, daughters of Cristofano Verdelli who died in 1592 without male heirs.
In the early years of the millennium the ownership was acquired by Earl Baron Renato Santoro who
then bequeathed it to his children; they are the current owners.
The Medieval Castle has reached our times maintaining its ancient charm and mysterious beauty embellished with elegant painted frescoes on walls, vaults and ceilings.
A sojourn in these silent places allows you to relive the most genuine tuscan tradition
and enjoy the pristine charms of the surrounding nature.
A project has already been implemented of the complex recovery plan approved by
Building Commission, planned
to fully respect the architectural characteristics with careful choice of materials and decorative details.
The castle is within a planning area qualified for a tourism accommodation establishment.
The interior of the complex is completely to be restored, and other renovation work needed
for the recovery for residential purposes and/or hospitality facilities.
